 Our vision is to expand transportation services by training veterans, dislocated workers, ex-offenders, women, and disconnected youth to transport goods across the United States. We foster a supportive learning environment that prepares individuals for the path ahead, blending traditional learning methods with hands-on experiences to ensure comprehensive skill development. 

As of December 2020, the transportation industry had the 2nd largest gain in employment adding 3100 jobs (wrksolutions.com). Forbes magazine (December 21, 2020) projects a 22% increase in employment for the transportation and utilities sector in Texas 2021. And in Texas employment of heavy and tractor- trailer drivers are projected to grow 2% from 2019-2029. 

Career Stop projects 24,410 states the outlook for truck-drivers is bright in Houston the average earnings for heavy and tractor-trailer truck drivers is

$64,500 in Houston alone and in the US $66,840 average pay. S & R Truck Driving Institute will prepare students for a career that would allow them to care for their families and live above the poverty guidelines.

 Our curriculum consists of over 120 hours of planned activities, covering three key standards established by        S & R Truck Driving Institute: skills standards, curriculum guidelines, and course certification requirements. These standards, along with additional services, are designed to ensure the success of each driver/participant, reflecting our commitment to empowering individuals and fostering growth. 

 It is our goal to recruit participants from the Houston area who are seeking a career change, with a special focus on veterans, women, ex-offenders, dislocated workers, disconnected youth (18 and older), the under-employed, and disenfranchised individuals living below the poverty line. Our mission is to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the State of Texas Commercial Driver’s License examinations, helping them build sustainable careers in the transportation industry. 

 The curriculum will include, but is not limited to, the physical skills test, pre-trip inspections, basic vehicle control skills, driver requirements, and the on-road test. Upon successful completion of S & R Truck Driving Institute’s planned activities and obtaining the State of Texas CDL, our goal is to offer a six-month Team On-the-Job Training (TOJT) opportunity with S & R Truck Driving Institute. 

 Our program is unique because, in addition to the required skills test and CDL preparation, we offer life skills and business success courses. These courses are designed to equip our drivers with the tools they need for long-term, transformational success in both their careers and personal lives.
